ADHD & Neurodivergence
ADHD is often misunderstood, especially in systems that prioritize productivity over well-being. More broadly, neurodivergence as a whole is frequently pathologized rather than supported—in workplaces, schools, and even within families.
At MLC, we approach ADHD and neurodivergence through an anti-oppressive lens, recognizing that struggles with focus, executive functioning, sensory regulation, or social dynamics are not inherent deficits but reflections of a world built for neurotypical norms.
Our work is not about “fixing” differences but about helping individuals understand, navigate, and embrace their unique ways of thinking, processing, and engaging with the world. We also explore how ableism, capitalism, and other systemic factors shape experiences of neurodivergence—whether that’s through late diagnoses, masking, self-worth struggles, or burnout.
Through therapy, we support individuals in:
- Understanding their neurodivergence without shame
- Developing self-regulation and executive functioning strategies that honor their needs
- Addressing internalized ableism and self-criticism
- Navigating work, relationships, and daily life in ways that feel authentic and sustainable
- Advocating for accommodations and self-compassion in systems that often fail to support neurodivergent people
Whether you are newly diagnosed, self-identifying, or have been navigating neurodivergence for years, we are here to help you unlearn harmful narratives, embrace your strengths, and create a life that works for you—rather than forcing yourself to fit into a system that wasn’t built with you in mind.
