Our Philosophy

“What you seek is seeking you”
— Rumi

We are glad you are here.

Mindful Life Counseling is a holistic, inclusive private practice dedicated to serving adult individuals and couples in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Mindful Life Counseling, we believe a “mindful life” is based on a deep, balanced understanding of the four facets of health: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Our practice is rooted in compassion, empathy, and authenticity. That’s why our therapists are also committed to living a mindful life, both in and out of the therapy room, to ensure the best care possible for our clients.

Holistic. Experiential. Mindfulness-Based Practices.

Therapists at Mindful Life Counseling have a passion for a holistic, experiential, and mindfulness-based approach to therapy and treatment. This means we value living in the ‘here and now’, focusing on having experiences rather than only speaking about experiences. In the same way that no one can eat, breathe, or sleep for you– no one can have an ‘aha experience’ for you. You can pay someone to do a math problem for you but you could never pay someone to understand math for you.

We believe change is a qualitative process, instead of a quantitative one– we cannot be told what to change, we have to change how we think in order to experience long-term, impactful change. Mindful Life Counseling therapists believe in mindfully facilitating and supporting individuals to shift towards a sense of harmony and alignment that is best for them.

We are inclusive therapists committed to allyship.

We Value Integrating Multiculturalism & Intersectionality into the Therapy Space.

As a woman- and POC-owned practice, Mindful Life Counseling strives to provide a safe, stigma-free space for clients of all identities; Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+ individuals, and marginalized communities.

Our team is mindful of how racism can play out in the therapy room, and we are devoted to dismantling these inequitable power structures. Our therapists consciously engage in continuous learning and seek to challenge and confront racism in all forms. We believe equity in mental health should be a given, and it is our mission to provide access to a social-justice oriented, anti-racist space for counseling.

Our therapists are committed to providing an affirmative space for the LGBTQ+ community recognizing the impact of living in a heteronormative and gender-binaristic society. We strive to practice affirmative therapy by continually observing our own privilege in the therapy space in addition to promoting social change.

Our mission is to support you with compassion and empathy, while at the same time challenging you to become the best versions of yourself.
