Spirituality

Healing is not limited to talk therapy, it is deeply connected to the wisdom of the body, the land, and ancestral traditions. At MLC, we recognize that spirituality has long been essential healing practices in many cultures, often erased or dismissed by Western psychology.

Our approach to integrating spirituality in therapy is rooted in anti-oppressive, decolonized, and culturally affirming care. We honor how spirituality and rituals that have historically supported mental, emotional, and collective well-being, particularly for Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.

In therapy, this may include:

  • Exploring your relationship to spirituality and ancestral healing practices
  • Understanding how somatic practices and rituals can support emotional and nervous system regulation
  • Unpacking religious trauma and reclaiming spiritual beliefs in ways that feel safe and aligned
  • Decolonizing healing by integrating traditional knowledge alongside therapeutic work

We believe that healing is not just individual but collective, and that therapy should honor the wisdom, intuition, and ancestral practices that have sustained communities long before Western psychology existed. Whether you are reconnecting with cultural traditions, seeking alternative forms of care, or processing religious/spiritual trauma, we provide a space to explore what healing looks like for you—without shame, judgment, or Western-centric limitations.
