“What you seek is seeking you”
— Rumi
We are glad you are here.
At Mindful Life Counseling, we believe healing is about reconnecting to the person you’ve always been—beneath the protective layers, survival strategies, and systems that told you otherwise.
We are a practice committed to walking alongside individuals—especially those who have been historically silenced, marginalized, and pathologized—as they return to the wisdom of their bodies, stories, and ancestors.
Our therapists show up as full, real people in the room: warm, embodied, honest, and committed to their own unlearning. We resist the sterile, hierarchical model of therapy and instead practice in a way that is relational, consent-based, and deeply honoring of your lived experience. We believe therapy should hold space for your grief, rage, numbness, longing, and joy—all of it.
We’re trained in evidence-based models like Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, DBT, CBT, attachment theory, and more, but these models weren’t created with people like you and me in mind. That’s why our team not only receives foundational training in these modalities, but is also committed to ongoing anti-oppressive and decolonial mental health education and reflection on how to use these therapy models—with the central commitment being to not replicate harm, especially for those whose identities have long been pathologized or erased in traditional mental health spaces.
For us, decolonizing therapy means not forcing you to fit into a model that doesn’t make space for your complexity. It means recognizing that your pain is not just personal—it’s also political and historical. And it means helping you find tools and practices that resonate with your life, not someone else’s idea of healing.
Healing is not linear. It is not always comfortable. But it is possible—when done in a space where all parts of you are respected and honored.
We invite you to get to know our team—each therapist brings their own lived experience, clinical wisdom, and way of showing up in the work. Take some time to explore their bios and see who resonates with you. We’d be honored to support you, wherever you are in your journey.
