Women’s Emotional Health
We recognize that women face diverse and unique challenges. Women have been subjugated to societal norms and pressures that feel unjust discriminatory and oppressive. Even as women gain more social power, the stress of marginalization can become more acute. Unrealistic beauty standards continue to pervade the media, yet women are shamed if they don’t feel body positive.
There is no doubt that women, especially women of color and trans women, face unequal burdens that can lead to chronic stress.
The #MeToo movement began to shed light on sexual assault and harassment, yet the movement only amplified the voices of some, and for many others who are victims of assault, the accounts were triggering. There is no doubt that women, especially women of color and trans women, face unequal burdens that can lead to chronic stress. Without acknowledging this toxic stress, women can suffer from low self-worth, anxiety, depression and co-dependency. At Mindful Life Counseling, we specialize in working with women to heal and understand the context of their unique challenges.
